No – nothing is charged at the time of booking. Your card is held securely as a booking guarantee and will only be charged if there’s a late cancellation or no-show, in line with our policy.

We kindly ask that you notify us at least 24 hours before your booking if your plans change. Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a late cancellation fee.

No-shows or cancellations made within 24 hours of your reservation time may incur a late cancellation fee of $25 per person, which may be charged to the card on file.

Please note that pre-paid upgrades are non-refundable once purchased.

Yes – if you contact us with as much notice as possible, we’ll do our best to transfer your booking or provide a venue voucher as credit.

  • Several lots around 317-431 Murray St and Wellington St 
  • Typically a 5-8 minute walk 

Tip: King Street itself is mostly metered street parking and fills quickly, especially evenings and weekends – we recommend using a nearby car park instead.

Perth Underground Station (part of the Perth Station precinct) is the closest stop – about a 5 minute walk to Varnish on King. Perth Station (above ground) is also nearby and roughly the same walking distance.

We’re in a heritage basement accessed by stairs and don’t have a public lift. If you need step-free access, please contact our events team ahead of your visit so we can assist with the best option on the day.

Yes – Varnish on King is an intimate underground space, so tables are set fairly close together. It has a lively, social feel rather than a wide-open layout.

Smart casual is perfect. We’re an underground bar with a relaxed vibe.

Yes – walk-ins are always welcome when we have availability. Booking ahead is recommended for weekends and Endless Steak nights.

Yes – children are welcome when dining with family, provided they’re seated with adults and supervised at all times. Please note, we’re an adults-only venue after 8:00pm.

Absolutely. We offer set menus and drinks packages tailored for groups, and we can match you with the right space around the venue depending on the vibe you’re after. Tell us your group size and what you’re celebrating – we’ll take care of the rest.

The venue can accommodate up to 90 people for exclusive hire.

We can split bills up to a reasonable number, but on busy nights one bill per group is appreciated.

We recommend booking ahead, as Endless Steak nights are very popular. If we have availability, we’re happy to accommodate walk-ins.

Endless Steak sittings run for 90 minutes.
